8. Useful Blocks to Add to the Course

These blocks all serve students as a helpful way to keep track of the assignments and events that occur in a course.

  • The Upcoming Events block allows students to view all the events your hold in your course. These events are generated based on your activities and quizzes and will hold information such as due dates or quiz dates.
  • The Calendar block is a great tool in Moodle for visual students. Adding the calendar allows students to see when any assignment or event on Moodle is due. It also coordinates with other classes to allow students to see everything that is due or upcoming.
  • The Navigation block is on by default when you are assigned a course. If for some reason you cannot find it you can always add it in using the same methods as above and below these instructions.
    • The Navigation block is useful in directing you and your students to course content held in each section/topic. It also allows you to view your list of student participants and send them Moodle messages.

Use these instructions to add any one of the blocks listed above and more.
